About:

Shri Ambadevi Temple is situated in the Amravati city of Maharashtra. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Ambadevi and lies right in the middle of the city. Amba Devi Temple is so ancient that one cannot find even a single mention of it in the old gazetteers. The temple is held in great reverence by Hindus and people from different corners of not only Maharashtra, but the whole of India come to Amravati to pay respects to the Goddess.

One of the major attractions of the temple is the Navratri Festival, when the whole temple gets beautifully decorated. People belonging to, even the neighboring cities flock to the festival during this time, to catch a glimpse of the Goddess. During Navratris, a huge mela (fair) is organized on the grounds of the Ambadevi Temple, in which the devotees participate with full enthusiasm. History:

The Goddess Amba is popular amongst the devotees from Vidarbha.The Navaratri Festival , which falls just before Dasara festival, is celebrated by people & the temple authorities with gaiety & Harmony. During these nine days various cultural and religious programs are arranged. Big mela is held on this occasion which is visited by people from all walk of life with same enthusiasm.

There is a very interesting legend associated with the Amba Devi Temple of Amaravati. It goes that King Bhishmak's daughter Rukmini fell in love with Lord Krishna, after hearing the tales of His courage. However, her brother Rukmiya, fixed her marriage with his friend, King Shishupal of Chedi.According to legends, it is believed that Rukmini was kidnapped by the Lord Krishna,just a day before her marriage to Shishupal, when she came to visit the Ambadevi Temple.

You can go for boating and picnics at Chhatri Talao, which is a reservoir on the outskirts of Amravati. Wadali Talao, which has a zoo and also boating facilities, is another popular weekend place.

Shri Ekvira Devi:
Shri Ekvira Devi Temple is situated in the vicinity of Amba devi Temple. This Temple is just a few steps away from Amba devi Temple. This is a very old Temple. It was built around the year 1660 by the great son of Amravati Paramhans Shri Janardan Swami.

Satidham Temple:
Situating in the heart of the city at Rallies Plot, the temple has beautiful idols of Lord Krishna and Radha, Lord Ram and Sita, Lord Ganesh, Lord Shiva and Rani Satiji. A fair is organized on the occasion of Janmashthami every year. Huge devotees attend the fair.

Shri Bhakti Dham Temple:
Situating at Amravati Badnera Road, the temple has beautiful idols of Lord Krishna and Radha. There is also an idol of Shri Sant Jalaram Bappa. There is a small park for children behind this temple.

Chatri Talao:
Situating 1 km away from Dasturnagar Square on the Malkhed Railway Road, it was built in the year 1888 on a small spring called Kali Nadi. This small reservoir was built to supply drinking water to Amravati city. However, Amravati gets water from Upper Wardha Dam now. A small garden and boating facility is also available here.

Wadali Talao:
Situating 3 km away from the Amaravati Camp on Chandur Railway Road, it was built for clean and fresh water supply to Amravati Camp. There is a small garden with a zoo here. People usually come here during weekends and enjoy boating. This is one of the best places for kids
